The Toyota Highlander has been a popular SUV choice for families for over two decades. Toyota recently announced a new addition to the SUV lineup will be available in 2024, the Grand Highlander. Its size stands out as the most significant upgrade to the underpinnings of the regular Highlander model. This new full-size SUV will be longer and wider than the current Highlander, offering more space for passengers and cargo. Toyota also adds a third row of seats, which will make the Grand Highlander capable of seating up to eight people. Designed for the city roads, the Grand Highlander brings all its grandeur to the urban landscape while also maintaining consistent performance across the rugged terrains. If this upcoming SUV looks like the one for you, make sure to check it out at Sheehy Toyota of Laurel in Laurel, MD, when it is out for sale.
As per the official reports, the Grand Highlander has a more powerful engine. Currently, the Highlander comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 295 horsepower. On the other hand, the Grand Highlander will house a standard 265-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, the hybrid option is the same as Highlander SUV’s- a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors with a net output of 243 horsepower.
Another feature that may be added to the Grand Highlander is the latest safety and technology features. Toyota is known for its safety features, such as automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning, and we can expect the Grand Highlander to have these as well. Additionally, the SUV may have a larger infotainment screen and wireless charging options for smartphones.
